Holzmag briquetters are used to compact metals into a format that is easy to deliver
and remelt. The Elan model of briquetters can process aluminum. Where higher compaction
near solid density is required, as well as ferrous metal feedstock is required the HSB
line of briquetters can be used. A video of a HSB
briqueter is shown here processing
steel turnings. Operational pressure of 5000 psi (300 Bar) results in briquets that
sink in the molten bath and do not flash or cook on the surface of the melt. The
briquetters are used in metal recycling operations and foundries as well as machining
centers. The cutting oils are removed in the compaction process.
